Barangay Launches Community Clean-Up Drive This Weekend

Barangay Cotta officials announced a large-scale community clean-up drive scheduled for this coming Saturday as part of its intensified rainy-season preparedness program. The initiative, spearheaded by Kapitan Ernesto Valmoria, aims to clear critical drainage systems, remove accumulated waste from residential alleys, and trim overgrown vegetation that could obstruct pathways during heavy rains.

According to the barangay council, volunteers from youth groups, senior citizens’ organizations, homeowners’ associations, and local businesses have already committed to join the activity. Kagawad Maria Liezl Santos, chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Order, emphasized that barangay personnel will be deployed to assist in traffic management and ensure safety throughout the event.

Meanwhile, the barangay health center plans to provide hydration stations and first-aid support for participants. Residents are encouraged to bring cleaning tools such as brooms, gloves, and sacks, although the barangay will also distribute basic equipment on-site. The clean-up drive is expected to start at 6:00 AM and conclude with a short community briefing about flood-mitigation measures.
