New Waste Segregation Policy Starting Next Month
A new waste segregation policy will take effect beginning next month as part of its long-term environmental sustainability program. According to Kapitan Ernesto Valmoria, the policy aims to reduce landfill waste by encouraging households to sort garbage into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable materials before collection day.

To help residents transition smoothly, the barangay will distribute color-coded trash bins to every household and conduct orientation sessions in all zones. Kagawad Angela Rose Caballero, head of the Committee on Environment, shared that the barangay has partnered with a local recycling cooperative that will collect selected recyclables every Friday.

During the announcement, officials emphasized that the policy is not meant to penalize residents but to foster cleaner surroundings and reduce flooding caused by clogged waterways. For the first two months, the barangay will implement a soft launch, issuing reminders instead of sanctions. However, starting in the third month, repeat violators may receive citation notices.

Local homeowners’ associations expressed support for the measure, noting that consistent segregation could significantly improve waste management efficiency and cleanliness in public spaces.
